So…..when you have a Picture Framing shop you end up with heaps of small off-cuts.  I give loads of small mat board bits away to the local Primary Schools and Kindys for their projects, but no-0ne really can use the left over small bits of glass and perspex.  It always seems a shame to throw them away and that’s when I became interested in acrylic plate etching.  One of my very first etchings was this Spotted Owl.  Now I’m totally in love with the medium and I’m scratching away constantly making beautiful prints.  Just about to embark upon a suite of prints relating to the old Gold fields.  My son Dean recently became interested in panning for gold and we used to live in a small town that was once a gold rush town in the early 1900s so there were plenty of old mine shafts and equipment.  The town only had a pub and a shop and little else, but once there was 7 hotels and boarding houses.  To look at the old maps of the streets that are no longer there is amazing.  Anyway….stay tuned for these prints.  They will be coming soon.
